LET passers of TEC tapped 30% rate

Congratulations to the new TEC LET passers!

Teacher Education Center envisioned for a constant passing rate of 50 percent for Licensure Examination for Teachers. The center solely offers degree program for teacher education specifically, Bachelor in Secondary Education in different areas of specialization as: English, Math, Filipino and Technology and Livelihood Education.

Twenty newly graduate students took LET examinations given by the Professional Regulations Commission on Sept. 26, 2010 in Iloilo. Among those test takers, six successfully passed the examination that make up the 30 percent passing rate, they were: Diona Liah Maagma, Anjhielyn Cahilig, Imee Antaran, Riche Ann Tipan, Sheena Joy Nagtalon, and Maribel Campoy.

Add on to the list of test passers from TEC were Mary Sarah Estanislao and Emma Retome. They were previous graduates of the school who as well took and passed the exam.

Maagma graduated Cum Laude major in English. Together with Cahilig and Antaran, they took specialization in English and Literature in the BSEd category. Tipan specialized in Mathematics took the licensure in Math. Nagtalon, Campoy, Estanislao and Retome took the Technology and Livelihood Education fields. #

Field trip

Malay escapade. Enjoined by the II-English and III-English class, a field trip to Malay was made on Feb. 15, 2011. They visited the Malay eco-tourism park, Pangihan cave and Nabaoy river. Aeta settlement was then their next area set foot.

SCUAA Meet 2010

Aklan hosted the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association meet on December 18-22, 2010. Eleven State Universities and Colleges in region VI participated in the sports events which showcase the tremendous agility and physique of athletes. Spearheaded by the Aklan Provincial Governor Carlito S. Marquez and PASUC VI Chair Dr. Benny A. Palma, the event was made a success.

House Bill 5043, isang hakbang tungo sa Family Planning

Kapanalig, mga ginoo at mga binibini, kayo ay malugod kong inaanyayahang pakinggan ang aking pananaw sa napipintong batas na tinatawag na RH Bill o House Bill 5043.

Kung kayo ang tatanungin, ano sa palagay ninyo ang inyong pasya? Kayo ba ay sumasang ayon, o kayo ba’y tutol dito?

Nababalita at naeere live sa TV ang hearing ng Kongreso patungkol sa bill na ito, may mga lider ng grupong naiimbetahan upang ipahayag ang kanilang saloobin tungkol dito. Samu’t saring palagay ang mababatid. May tumututol, may sumasang ayon.

Sabi ng isa sa mga naging representasyon ng Santo Papa, alinsunod sa kautusan ng simbahang Katoliko mariing tinututulan ng simbahan ang pagpapatupad ng batas RH Bill 5043. Subalit nakasaad sa kanyang sulat, "ang condom ay hindi lamang isang solusyon sa pagkontrol sa pagbubuntis o pagkakaroon ng anak” na naging ugat ng isang diskusyon na ang simbahan ay kumakatig sa ideya ng batas sa paggamit nito.

Ang siyang kumakatawan sa lakas ng kababaihan ay nagpahayag, sa kabilang dako, na ang panukalang batas ay sadyang nararapat na maipatupad sa lalong madaling panahon dahil sa pagyurak sa karapatan ng mga kababaihan sa ngayon. Ang pang aabuso at pagmamaltrato sa kanila, maging sa loob ng bahay o sa mga ospital ay sadyang mapapansin at kanilang nararanasan. Mungkahi nila na sa pamamagitan nito mapapangalagaan ang karapatan ng mga kababihan.

Sa kabilang banda, nagsalita ang panig ng sa kumakatawan sa lakas ng kabataan na ang bill na ito ay kanilang tinututulan. Ang paraang ito sang ayon sa doktrina ng simbahan at paniniwala ng kabataan ay taliwas sa batas ng Diyos at batas ng tao na bigyan ang bawat nilalang sa mundo ng karapatang mabuhay at magkabuhay.

Tinuligsa rin ng sa kumakatawan sa lakas ng mga negosyante ang panukalang ito. Sang ayon sa kanya, ang Diyos ay nag utos sa tao na humayo at magpakarami. Hindi humayo at manganak at magkontrol. Ang pagkondena ng mga negosyante sa pahayag na ito tungkol sa panukala ay sadyang madarama. Mailap ang pag sang ayong natatanggap ng Kongreso patungkol sa batas.

May mga pahayag at komento ding nakakalap sa Internet na ang RH Bill ay walang mabubuting dulot sa tao. Sabi ng isa sa mga komento na ipapahayag ko sa English, "I am pro-life, I support the doctrines of my Church and I do not believe that over population is the cause of all our economic woes.” (October 10, 2008)

May mga tumutuligsa, may mga sumasang ayon. Ngunit kung titingnan natin, ano ba ang ating kayang gawin upang maibsan ang kahirapan sa bansa, upang makontrol ang paglobo ng populasyon sa mundo.

Sabi ni Bro. Ely Soriano, ang punong ministro ng Dating Daan ay nagpahayag na ang Family Planning ay nakasaad sa banal na Bibliya. Kanyang sinabi sa paraan ng pagtukoy sa sulat sa Bibliya na "bagaman kayo ay may mga asawa na, mamuhay kayo ng parang kayo’y mga walang asawa.

Maaaring ang pahayag ng Diyos sa tao na humayo kayo’t magpakarami ay sadyang hindi na akma sa ngayon dulot ng mabilis na pagtaas ng bilang ng tao sa mundo.

Ano pa ba ang ating magagawang iba kung hindi ang mag kontrol. Ang kontrol na ayon sa tamang proseso. Iyong hindi taliwas sa batas.

Bakit may mercy killing? Bakit may abortion? Bakit may mga fetus na tinatapon sa basurahan? Ano ba ang mga ito? Ito ba’y sang ayon sa batas? Ito ba ay mabuti sa tao?

Ang sagot ay isang malaking kapangahasan. Malaking kasalanan sa mata ng Lumikha. Malaking dagok sa buhay mo.

Ang pagkitil ng buhay ay isang nakaririmarim na kasalanan. Ngunit ang pagkontrol nito ay maaring hindi isang kapintasan kundi isang hakbang sa maayos na pagpigil sa premarital pregnancy.

Ang hindi wastong gulang na pagbubuntis at panganganak ay maraming may masamang dulot sa kababaihan, maging sa tahanan.

Mga kaibigan kong babae at maging sa mga kamag anak kong babae, pakinggan ninyo itong mabuti.

Sino ba sa inyo o sa mga kakilala ninyo ang nakaranas nang maging ina sa edad na labing anim pababa? Ano ba ang pakiramdam? Masarap ba? Malamang sa umpisa lamang subali’t sa kalauna’y dulot ay perwisyo at abala sa inyong buhay.

Ang pagkakaroon ng pamilya ay pinaghahandaan. Ang pagtatalik ay hindi pinaglalaruan. Ito’y may kabanalan. Ang isang babae at lalaki bago maganyak na magtalik ay kinakailangang magpaalam at humingi ng basbas sa Diyos bago ito’y maisakatuparan.

Ang lahat ay dapat gawin sa tamang panahon. Sa tamang edad at sa tamang kaisipan. Maraming naging buang sa hirap ng buhay.

Sino ba’ng may gustong maghirap? Siyempre lahat gustong guminhawa sa buhay.

Kaya’t ang panaka-nakang hindi pinag iisipang pasya ay nakasasama. Lahat ng gagawin pag isipan. Lahat ng kilos pagpasyahan at handang harapin ang buhay maging sa ginhawa at hikahos man. Kung sakali mang madapa sa kasalanan, walang sinuman ang dapat sisihin kundi ang inyong kapararaan at katangahan.

Magpasya ayon sa dikta ng konsensya. Mag isip batay sa talino huwag sa bugso ng damdamin at tawag ng laman.

Bagaman kung ito’y hindi maiiwasan, dapat tandaan, may sapat na paraan upang unwanted pregnancy ay maiiwasan. Magkontrol!

Aklan to host 2010 SCUAA sports meet

KALIBO, Aklan - The province of Aklan will be hosting the yearly regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) sports competition on December 17 to 22.

Eleven colleges and universities in Western Visayas will participate in the five-day sports meet with the sprawling Aklan Calangcang Sports Complex in the town of Makato as the main venue.
Hosted by the Aklan State University (ASU), delegations from Guimaras State College, Negros State College of Agriculture (NSCA Sparrows), University of Antique (UA), West Visayas State University (WVSU Eagles), Capiz State University (CapSU), Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC), Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST), Carlos C. Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC), Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology (NONESCSAT) and Iloilo State College of Fisheries (ISCOF) are seeing action in one of the biggest tertiary sports event in the region.
Last year, Carlos C. Hilado Memorial State College hosted the regional meet in Talisay, Negros Occidental.
This year, the host state university is expecting more than 3,000 SCUAA member-athletes, coaches, officiating and delegation officials to compete in various events such as taekwondo, table tennis, baseball, basketball, swimming, athletics, badminton, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, boxing, softball, arnis, chess, dance competition, volleyball and football.
The sports events will also be spread out in other venues in the municipalities of Numancia, New Washington and Kalibo.
The sports competition kicks off with the traditional parade of the leading state colleges and universities from the Makato town plaza to the main venue Aklan Calangcang Sports Complex followed by the opening rites of SCUAA Meet. The fitting ceremony will be capped by the field demonstration of ASU students, hosting of SCUAA flag and lighting of torch.
The regional meet is in preparation for the 2011 National Collegiate Games on February 20 to 26, 2011 at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex with more than 6,000 athletes from 17 regions across the country.

CILC for CNHS-Annex conducted by CICT

A roll out training on Computer and Internet Literacy Course (CILC) conducted by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology in partnership with Aklan State University and Romblon State University. Sent to conduct training were Jolitte Villaruz(ASU) as Resource Person , Joeblas S. Diaz (ASU) as laboratory assistant 2, John Joseph G. Aguila (RSU) as lab. assistant 1.

It is a weeklong training started November 10 until November 14, 2010 at Concepcion National High School, (Annex) Bakhawan, Concepcion, Romblon. There were 12 teachers, four from LGUs and three students as trainees.

The contests were conducted November 23 at ASU Banga amphitheater participated by four campuses of Aklan State University: Main, CFMS, CHARRM, CIT and TEC to conclude the Intercampus meet.

They were the students of ASU, Teacher Education Center who will represent ASU for the State Colleges and Universities Athletic meet for Region VI on December.

The ASU TEC faculty and staff extends congratulations to you. Keep it up. Good luck for the SCUAA competition.

SCUAA Training and Workshop at ASU Makato

MAKATO, Aklan - The State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association holds its 3-day Training and Workshop at Aklan State University, Teacher Education Center this year.

The training started November 17 and will end November 19, 2010 in preparation for the near coming SCUAA meet on December 17 to 22. Coaches from different state colleges and universities in Region VI including Guimaras, come together to attend the training and workshop. It was a conference of coaches who will officiate the sports events during the meet.

Graced by the Academic Affairs Vice President Dr. Ersyl T. Biray, together with the Vice President for Research and Extension Dr. Roberto L. Saladar and the ASU TEC School Head Dr. Eleanor T. Mationg, the event was made possible.

These three days event will surely hit the target of the school and the Aklan Sports Complex to be known in the region and in the global community with the continuing effort of the Aklan Provincial Government in cooperation with Aklan State University, promoting the Aklan Sports Complex to be the next SEA Games sports venue as envisioned by the province.

VALEDICTION

The complexity of life is inevitable. The future is unpredictable. Life offers nothing constant, only change; a multitude of changes. What you have today, you will lose tomorrow but what you will be tomorrow must be better than what you are today.

My dear classmates, we have come to celebrate the grandest moment of being a student. After 4 years of hardship, struggle, and perseverance, here we are, just like the grateful farmers, looking joyously at the plenteous, God- given harvest. Today, we reap the fruits of our labor and enjoy the richness of it. We see the results of the tears we’ve shed, the stressful days and sleepless nights. Finally, we have seen God’s answer to our prayers.

But then, harvest doesn’t mean it’s the end of the story because in the next planting season, we have to plant some more, add a little more hard work and pray even more earnestly so that we may expect a far better harvest in the years to come.

Success is most enjoyable when it is shared. Therefore, on behalf of the graduates, I’d like to share this moment and express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the persons who watered and cultivated the ambitious dreams of ours that we may come up with this harvest.

To our friends and acquaintances who walked along with us side by side, we greatly appreciate the friendship and company you’ve shared. Thank you for the listening ears, the helping hands, and for being the shoulder that we can cry on.

Our dear teachers, advisers, and mentors, you have imparted to us not only the lessons found in books. You’ve given us a second home and taught us useful lessons in life that we’ll surely bear in mind and pass to the succeeding generations as soon as we become just like you, ma’am and sir. Big thanks to you!

Our most loved family, especially our parents and guardians; you are our superheroes and greatest fans in one. Your sacrifices from our birth until now are countless as well as your hardships to sustain our needs and send us to school. That’s incomparable! A million thanks for your love, affection, and unconditional support. We love you so much! Because of you, we can truly say, "We made it!”

Likewise to our beloved Alma Mater, let us say this to you with honor and dignity. You have armed us as a complete and prepared person to face the challenges and realities of life in our field of profession. We salute you for molding and nurturing us.

The biggest thanks belong to God because without Him, we are nothing. The success that we are enjoying right this moment is all because of You, Lord and in Your hands we commit our lives and our future. Thank You very much for the increasing grace and guidance You’ve bestowed on us. And thank You for driving us to a place of success. Although the road we have passed is not straight. But then, here we are, shouting for joy.

This joy of our success, we also share to our benefactors, especially the Provincial Government Scholarship Grant, I am happy that I have availed the privileges of being a provincial scholar; and to all of you who have helped that we may become what we are right now.

As for you, my fellow graduates, congratulations! We have passed the tests and now is the time to level up! All our hardships and struggles finally made sense. It’s just ironic, though, that when we’re already comfortable and dependent to each other, the time comes that we have to go our separate ways. But then, thank you for the memories and the friendship that will surely not end today but will be cherished for as long as we live. As we bid goodbye to our Alma Mater, let’s continue to uphold her ideals. Let us always take her in our hearts wherever we ma go and whenever we fulfill our dreams- Dreams that should not stop here and just dwell with memories. Rather, we must look onwards and dream once more. But this time, let us dream and aim not only for ourselves and for our family. Let us dream for the nation and for the whole world as well as for being productive and active participants of development and progress that we have been aiming for.

The medals and diplomas we received today must not be mere symbols of high grades or prestigious positions but emblems of true light which God has given us and which we are now called to give to others in return.

As I end this speech, let’s take a few moments to personally thank the people behind our success.
